Welcome to the 2026–2027 School Year, Jaguar Families!

Dear Barbara Jordan Families,

It is with great excitement and gratitude that I welcome you to the 2026–2027 school year! Whether your family is returning to Jordan or joining us for the first time, I want you to know how honored we are to have your children in our care. They are the reason we are here, and we are committed to making this a year filled with growth, achievement, belonging, and opportunity for every student.

Our theme this year is Building Excellence, Brick by Brick: Every Student, Every Classroom, Every Day! This theme represents more than the decorations you may see throughout our campus. It represents our commitment to doing the important work, one student, one lesson, one decision, and one day at a time.

Our Focus This Year

This is an important year of growth for Barbara Jordan. As a campus, we will have an intentional focus on:

Academic Growth & Achievement: Ensuring every student receives rigorous, engaging instruction and grows from where they begin.

Strong Literacy & Mathematics Foundations: Strengthening the essential skills our students need to be successful now and in the future.

Student Attendance: Our children cannot benefit from great instruction if they are not at school. Every day truly matters.

Positive School Culture & Student Behavior: Creating classrooms where students feel safe, loved, respected, challenged, and ready to learn.

Student Ownership: Helping our Jaguars understand their goals, celebrate their progress, and take pride in their learning.

Family & Community Partnerships: Strengthening the relationship between home and school because we know we accomplish more when we work together.

We Need You on Our Team!

Families, you are an essential part of the work ahead. You can help us by making daily attendance and arriving on time a priority, talking with your child about what they are learning, reading together at home, staying connected with your child’s teacher, attending campus events and conferences, and encouraging your Jaguar to give their very best, even when the work becomes difficult.

Most importantly, continue reminding your children that they are capable. Let them know that mistakes are part of learning, challenges help us grow, and their effort matters.

I also want our families to know that partnership means communication in both directions. When you have questions, concerns, ideas, or need support, please reach out to us. We may not always get everything perfect, but you have my commitment that we will continue learning, listening, improving, and keeping our students at the center of our decisions.

There is tremendous potential within the walls of Barbara Jordan, and I believe deeply in what our students, staff, families, and community can accomplish together. This is our year to grow. This is our year to achieve. This is our year to build.
